WEBCASTS of DZOGCHEN TEACHINGS - Chögyal Namkhai Norbu travels extensively, imparting his precious teachings on Dzogchen, at retreats held in many countries around the world. Frequently, these teachings and the Transmission are streamed by Audio and Video webcasts, making it possible for many people to “attend” these retreats.
Transmission - Transmission of the State of Dzogchen from the Master is necessary in order to enter the path of Dzogchen. We can then engage with the practices, enabling us to develop our capacity and enter into that State. With live webcasts we can receive this Transmission of the State of Dzogchen from Chögyal Namkhai Norbu. In particular, each year there are 3 World Wide Transmission (WWT) days when we can receive the Direct Transmission of the State of Dzogchen. Further information about the WWT is available here or from the The Secretary. The time below is for Brisbane, QLD, Australia |
Open and Closed Webcast
|
Webcasts can be Open or Closed - Open Video webcasts are accessible to all members of the IDC (International Dzogchen Community), as well as newcomers sincerely interested in the teachings of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu. No Login password is required. If video reception is poor the webcast can still be heard via Audio webcast. Audio replays of webcasts are only available to IDC members who require a Login Password which can be obtained through the Webcast website or the secretary of a Gar or Ling. Closed Webcasts are restricted and are not streamed openly. Their content assumes some previous knowledge of the Dzogchen teachings and/or involves restricted empowerments. They are only available to currently registered members of the IDC. Login with Password is required. Contact your local community for details of where you can attend a closed webcast.
To obtain a Password for closed (restricted) webcasts and Audio replays: Email Vicki our Secretary to verify your membership status. Please include the requested information (see below) and ask that she/he facilitate your password registration. This procedure is FASTER since the membership check has already been done by the Gar. OR Send your password request directly to Webcast Management webcast@dzogchen.net, providing your name, surname, country, membership number, Gar of reference, email address. Newcomers - If a sincere newcomer wants to attend a Closed webcast retreat with other practitioners, it is necessary to become a Member beforehand. A more senior practitioner should take care of that new person, explaining that the teachings are more advanced, and clearly explaining Transmission and membership, ensuring that this new practitioner is really sincere. It is preferable that the newcomer is well informed, having read some relevant books, and has received Transmission of the State in a WWT or Open webcast, beforehand. If a newcomer is curious, but not prepared for this commitment, it is best they are encouraged to participate in Open webcast retreats and to read relevant material, rather than to participate in the closed retreat. The Meaning of Dzogchen Community membership - Usually a person becomes a member of the Dzogchen Community when he/she decides to follow Chögyal Namkhai Norbu's teachings in a more serious way.
