Namgyalgar Accommodation types:
Retreat cabin
Retreat cabin is fully self-contained and includes a bathroom, kitchen with fridge, oven, and stove top, reverse cycle air conditioning, solar power and its own water supply. It is only available to members and can be used for extended stays. No weekly discount is given on this type of cabin stay.
NOTE: During retreats, teachers have priority over the retreat cabin. If a teacher chooses to stay in the house during their course, the cabin accommodation rates will change to the private or shared room rate depending on the number of people staying in the cabin. The 10% discount on weekly stay would apply to this type of cabin use.
Retreat accommodation in the house
Private room refers to Rosa’s bedroom (Queen bed) and en suite and Rinpoche’s bedroom (Double bed) and en suite. Living spaces are shared. If two people are staying in a private room an additional $20 fee is charged. 10% discount on weekly stay.
Shared room refers to the two rooms off the hallway, any beds in the lounge room of the house and any beds in the library set up during course retreats. Everyone sleeping in a shared room pays the shared room rate regardless of room occupancy and has use of a shared bathroom and toilet. 10% discount on weekly stay.
NOTE: The shared rooms off the hallway are available to members outside of retreats. Members staying in these shared rooms outside of retreats use the Mandala kitchen.

If you are arriving at Brisbane or Gold Coast domestic or international airports, you can take a train or bus to Glasshouse Mountains railway station. Go to Translink for time schedules and online purchase or phone 131617 for further information. If you are arriving at Sunshine Coast domestic airport, the best option is to rent a car or contact a shuttle bus service. Multiple choices are offered on the Sunshine Coast airport page. Namgyalgar is then only 35 minutes drive from the airport. If you decide to use public transport, it might take you more than 2 hours. See the Transport page for more details. |
The closest train station to Namgyalgar is called Glasshouse Mountains. To arrange transport from Glasshouse Mountains train station to the Gar, please email our administration officer via the form above confirming your time of arrival, or phone 07 5438 7696. People requiring pick-ups are asked to please contribute towards the fuel cost of the person transporting you. Alternatively, Glasshouse Cabs also provide a pick-up and drop-off service from any of the Steve Irwin Way train stations of Glasshouse Mountains, Beerwah and Landsborough. Bookings are essential so please contact Glasshouse Cabs on 0413 948 076.

When traveling north or south bound on the Bruce Highway, take the Steve Irwin Way exit to the township of Glass House Mountains, drive through and continue on Coonowrin Rd to a T-junction, turn left and take the 2nd right turn into Glasshouse-Woodford Rd until signpost #206 on the right - just after the Lookout Cafe and before the Glass House Mountain lookout. Parking is available at the Gar and parking attendants will assist you. The site is wheelchair accessible. Hire cars are available at Brisbane airport and also in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast 07 5492 5400.
